Adjusting Beat Spacing

The Adjust beat spacing button in the Tools window lets you adjust the amount of visual space between two neighboring beats in the song window.

Here's an example situation where you would want to adjust beat spacing: Say you place a complicated chord symbol, such as Eb7sus4/Bb, on beat 1 of a measure, and then you place another chord on the very next beat (beat 2). In this situation, ChordSong's automatic beat spacing doesn't make enough room for the Eb7sus4/Bb chord symbol on beat 1, so it overlaps the chord symbol on beat 2. You want to give beat 1 more room by moving beat 2 to the right.

To adjust beat spacing:

  1. Open the Tools window via the Tools > Tool Box menu command.
  2. Click the beat spacing button .
  3. Place the mouse on the beat you want to move and drag it to the right or left.
  4. When you're done, click the "select" button to use the mouse the normal way again.
