Changing KeyTo transpose your song (change its key): Open the Change Key window via the Chord > Change Key menu command. For quick-and-easy transposing, just leave the settings in the Change Key window alone, and click the Transpose Up or Transpose Down button to shift your song up or down one half-step at a time. If you want to transpose only part of your song, first select that part (drag a black selection rectangle around it). Then in the Change Key window, select the current selection option instead of the whole document. Sharps or flats? When a transposed chord has two possible names (for example, F#m and Gbm), usually ChordSong uses the more common name (in this case, F#m). But when neither name is clearly more common (for example, D#m and Ebm), you can choose the sharps or flats setting in the Change Key window to make ChordSong favor "sharp" or "flat" names. Note: We also put the Change Key command on the Note menu for easy access. It doesn't matter which menu you use to open the Change Key window; either way, ChordSong always transposes both chords and notes. |
