Playing Your Song

Use the controls in the Play Bar (near the top of the ChordSong window) to play your song:

Play/Stop button. Click the Play button to start playing your song. ChordSong starts playing at the current-position cursor. The Play button changes to a Stop button while your song is playing.

You can also use your computer keyboard's space bar to Play or Stop. (This only works when the "keyboard focus" is in the song window.)

Repeat checkbox. ChordSong keeps playing your song over and over, unless you uncheck the Repeat checkbox.

Tempo control. You can control your song's speed (shown in beats per minute) with the up and down arrow buttons on the Tempo control.

Rhythm listbox. You can select a playing style (Straight, Swing, Long Notes, or None) in the Rhythm dropdown list.

If the cursor moves but you don't hear anything when ChordSong plays your song, check the usual suspects for computer sound problems:

  • Make sure your speakers are plugged in to your computer's sound card.
  • If you have powered speakers, make sure they have power.
  • Make sure the volume controls on your sound card and/or speakers are turned up.
  • Check your Windows Multimedia settings, using the Sounds and Multimedia applet in Windows Control Panel. Especially, make sure the "MIDI Music Playback" volume is turned up.
